Privacy Policy
The short version
- Elseful isn’t open yet. Right now the only thing this site does is keep a waitlist.
- We ask for one thing: your email. We use it to tell you when we open and to give you early access.
- We don’t sell it, rent it, or share it for advertising. No newsletter, no drip campaign.
- You can leave at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or write to us and we’ll delete it.
1. Who we are
Elseful (“we”, “us”) is run by Timur Aliev, an individual, who is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about anything privacy-related at helper@elseful.com.
2. What we collect
- Your email address, when you join the waitlist. This is the only thing you need to give us.
- The experiment you picked, if you join through the “I want to try this” card. We save it so it can be your first experiment when we open.
- Basic technical data that every web server sees, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your request. Our server keeps these in short-lived logs to keep the site secure and working.
- Anonymous usage statistics: which pages are viewed, which buttons and sections are used, how far you scroll, how long you stay, how fast the page loads, the site that sent you, your device type, browser, language and time zone. We count visitors with an identifier made from your IP address and browser that is scrambled with a random key, and that key is thrown away every day. We never store your IP address with these statistics, never link them to your email, and can’t recognise you from one day to the next.
We don’t ask for your name, phone number, location or anything else. This site doesn’t use cookies for statistics or advertising, and doesn’t track you across other websites. Our statistics are collected by our own code on our own server; no analytics company sees them. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, we don’t collect usage statistics at all.
3. Why we use it, and on what basis
- To tell you when Elseful opens and give you early access. We do this because you asked us to by joining the list (consent).
- To keep the experiment you picked ready for you. Also based on your consent.
- To understand how the site is used and make it better, using the anonymous statistics above. This is in our legitimate interest in improving the site, and we’ve kept it to aggregate counts that can’t identify you.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse, for example spam signups. This is in our legitimate interest in running a safe service.
Joining the waitlist is completely voluntary. If you don’t give us your email, the only consequence is that we can’t let you know when we open.
4. What we won’t do
- Sell or rent your email, or “share” it for targeted advertising.
- Add you to a marketing newsletter you didn’t ask for.
- Use your email to build a profile of you or make automated decisions about you.
5. Who else handles it
The waitlist is stored on our own server, not with a third-party marketing tool. The only service provider involved is:
- NetCrafters OÜ — provides the virtual server in the European Union where this website, its logs and the waitlist live. It doesn’t use the data for its own purposes.
When we send the launch email, we may use an email delivery service. If we do, we’ll name it here before we share any addresses with it.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to a successor if Elseful is ever sold or merged; in that case this policy would continue to apply to your data.
Your data is stored in the European Union. If we ever move it, or use a provider that stores it outside the European Economic Area, we’ll rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and update this policy.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your email until Elseful opens and for up to 12 months after that, so we can give you early access. After that we delete it, unless you’ve created an account. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, we remove it from the waitlist straight away. Server logs are deleted automatically after 14 days. Anonymous usage statistics are deleted after 13 months.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or restrict how we use it.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it. The quickest way is the unsubscribe link in any email from us; you can also write to helper@elseful.com. We’ll reply within 30 days and won’t charge you.
If you’re in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to data portability and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can complain to your local data protection authority, though we’d appreciate the chance to fix things first.
If you’re in California, you have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information. We don’t sell or share personal information, and we won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights.
8. Other sites
This site links to a few places we don’t run, such as our X / Twitter profile. Their own privacy policies apply there, not this one.
9. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we collect small so there’s less to protect.
10. Children
Elseful isn’t meant for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has joined the waitlist, let us know and we’ll delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
When Elseful launches, the app will have its own, more complete privacy policy. If we change this one before then, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email before it takes effect.
